The Klein Memorial Auditorium is Bridgeport’s 1400-seat performing arts center. Built in 1940 in Art Deco style, The Klein was a gift to the city from the estates of Jacob and Ray Klein. Their desire was to build a gathering hub for the performing arts “for the benefit of the people of Bridgeport.” Today, it is home to several resident companies including Klein Theatre Arts, a tuition-free arts education program for Bridgeport students in grades 6-12. When attending events be sure to check out the Mezzanine Art Gallery, with exhibits curated by Benjamin Casiano.

2:00 PM | Celebrating the Legacy of Jim Henson: An Afternoon with Craig Shemin and Karen Falk + Screening of The Muppet Movie
Craig Shemin and Karen Falk celebrate the work of Jim Henson and the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show, offering behind-the-scenes photos and anecdotes about the creation of the Muppets and the making of the company’s first feature film. Beloved by all ages, The Muppet Movie (1979) contains masterful puppetry and practical effects. Craig Shemin is President of The Jim Henson Legacy and former writer for The Jim Henson Company, and Karen Falk is Director of Archives for The Jim Henson Company. Tickets: $17.25 at theklein.org
