Artists of Read’s Artspace
This former department store located in the heart of downtown has the distinction of being the sole artist live/work space in the city. Home to more than 30 artists working in a variety of mediums including visual arts, music, writing and theater, Read’s has served as a hub for residents to create and exhibit their work since 2005. In addition to Gallery shows, art is featured in the common spaces throughout the building. Hours by appointment.

Party with us in the Ground Floor Gallery as we kick off the Art Trail with our new exhibit, “State of Being” featuring an array of work by Read’s resident and guest artists whose art celebrates a variety of mediums. Savor delectable appetizers and cool refreshments while enjoying the musical explorations of Chris Cavaliere, Musician & Songwriter, as he takes you on a sonic journey with his guitar. Be mesmerized by the stunning transformation performed by ACE award winning artist Alicia Cobb on a live model with her masterful fine art body painting. Revel in art and one another as friends, neighbors and fellow art aficionados gather at this lively annual event.

Lyrical Voices has been a staple in the fabric that is Bridgeport’s art community for over 20 years. It is a home for creativity that the poets built. We will come together to share poetry, music, visual art and more. This evening will be hosted by Shanna T Melton in the historic Read’s Artspace Gallery.
