Meet the artists of Metro Art Studios – over 40 artists working in a wide variety of disciplines, from drawing to painting, sculpture to jewelry, printmaking to photography, and much more. Three full floors of professional artists in loft studios to wander, discover, explore, and learn about various forms of art, inspiration, process, and so much more. Many artists are offering special prices and rare discounts during the Art Trail.

Celebrate and support the arts in Bridgeport with the annual Metro Art Studios fundraiser. All works are 10” square and $100 each. Start or add to your art collection! You’ll find work in a variety of media from both Metro and regional artists. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase work that is worth well more than $100 while supporting both the exhibiting artists and Metro Art Studios’ programming during this unique fundraiser. Come early for the best selection!

Ground Level Art Exhibit, Art Pops! Gift Shop, Urbane Gift Shop,  Background Coffee, Suspension: Foam Cloud Interactive Sculptures, and Sculpture Installation by Carlos Davila.

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM / Ground Level Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Ground Level exhibit features work by four artists, Gin Rimmington Jones, Megan Mueller, Carrie Pollack, and Matthew Shelley, opens in Metro’s Crown Gallery on Saturday, November 11, from 12-3 PM during the Bridgeport Art Trail. The artwork in this exhibition is linked together by a common interest in land and environment, with a tendency to focus on detail, rather than larger vistas.

12:00 PM - 4:00 PM / Kitchen Concerts
Enjoy pop-up musical performances near the 2nd and 3rd floor kitchens on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Local singer, songwriter, and instrumental musicians will be sharing their sounds.

Enjoy a taste of our new musical series, South End Sounds, throughout the day on Sunday in the gallery. At the top of every hour from 12 to 3 pm there will be a new surprise performer playing for about 15 minutes.

Susan Fehlinger, Studio 101 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm 
Susan Fehlinger, palette knife painter, will be exhibiting her new series of coastal New England oils, painted this summer, and demonstrating her palette knife techniques. Visiting sculptor Louise Cadoux will be showing her wild and whimsical wire fish.

Linn Cassetta, Fantasy Birds, Studio 101 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm 
Linn Cassetta, designer, painter and printmaker will be showing her new fantasy bird collection in addition to her ongoing egg exploration.

Dale Najarian, Studio 102 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm
Dale will be exhibiting her newest original oil paintings of contemporary landscapes and cityscapes. Various sizes available for sale.

Denise Susalka, Art Discussion & Sale, Studio 105 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm 
Denise will be discussing her series of paintings of female legs at various ages as they develop from preschooler, through tomboy into gawky teenager, blooming into young lady and culminating in vamp. A discount for the Bridgeport Art Trail will be offered on selected artwork.

Day Moore, The Movement of Water, Studio 106

In addition to my paintings I will be exhibiting a special “reel” dedicated to the movement of water, lovingly collected over many years and from various locations around the world. 

John Bygott, Studio 109 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm 
John Bygott will be presenting an array of paintings in oil in various sizes. Coastal scenes featuring John’s expressive clouds. Contemporary and graphic images with a minimalist point of view.

Short Art Films, Studio 113 
Saturday, November 11, 10 am to 5 pm / Sunday, November 12, 10 am to 5 pm 
A pop-up exhibit of short art films curated by and featuring the work of Nathan Santana and others. Nathan is a multimedia artist using poetry, music & video to create art pieces that tell personal stories. He brings his own unique, original work as well as those of other video artists to the popup exhibit. Sit and watch some films while you discover more about Nathan and the films he’s selected for exhibit.

Alicia Cobb, Body Painting Demonstration, Studio 115 
Saturday, November 11, noon to 4 pm 
Alicia Cobb, visual artist and body painter, will share the fascinating transformation of a human canvas from start to finish through body art. She will share how she started the art of body painting and give her model the opportunity to talk about the experience of being painted as well. artsimplicated.com

Pop-up Artist, Studio 116

Enjoy the work of a local pop-up artist in the Metro conference room on the first floor. This space is available for local artists to apply to and rent for the purpose of exhibiting and selling their work during public events. See new work by printmaker and textile artist, Jane Davila. Jane prints on both fabric and paper, and often includes stitching on both types of work. Jane has a variety of printing projects incorporating block printing, screen printing and pochoir printing in progress to see and discuss.

Sweetwater Studio will be showcasing guest artist Maryann Provey’s beautiful jewelry inspired and driven by the beauty of nature and realized in metals, gems, pearls and organic forms and textures. Sweetwater’s original fine art will be available for purchase over the weekend at a 20% discount. Enjoy Sweetwater’s passion for the light expressed through color for many years to come.

Come by for a weaving demonstration on a floor loom by fiber artist Dolores Tema and try on the preseason sale winter scarves.

Susan will be exhibiting lots of new work. There will also be a drawing in the studio each day with the chance to win a small original/signed painting. 

Tracey Anderson Kollar, Vintage ReStyled, Studio 212

Tracey will be working on a vintage furniture find over the weekend of the Bridgeport Art Trail. Stop by Saturday and Sunday to follow her through the nitty gritty of preparation, painting, staining and decorative details.
