  • Coming in November for the Bridgeport Art Trail: MY STORIES
The fiber art of 16 artists from Chile tell their stories, lead artist Carlos Bautista Biernnay. Read more about Carlos here, from his solo exhibit in 2020, called “Scream and Shout.” Click here.

Francis Pressley returned to making art in the 1990's beginning with the play he wrote and directed, "Function at the Junction". He says he visualized the play more so than imagined the words. This visualization led to painting and drawing. His words and his art are powerful, sincere and heartfelt.

Coming soon an interview, excerpts from his play and poems, such as "My Tormented Mistress" and "Make Me Your Main Man" will be documented and available online.

Artists’ Reception Saturday May 4th, 4:00 - 7:00 PM

From the artist Francis Pressley
”Who would have thought that a young black boy who suffered a speech impediment, misdiagnosed as intellectually slow, threatened if classwork did not improve (I would) be placed in special class and later examined by juvenile psychologist as possibly a kleptomaniac! turn out to be a playwright, poet, director, visual artist! I am a true survivor and every chance I get, I try to encourage others to see that they too can be an over comer …Ms Suzanne Kachmar, owner of (executive director of) City Light art gallery has given me the opportunity to display my artwork. I am humbled and proud, and my art can prove that you can transform into the person you want to be. “

From City Lights Executive Director
"It is Francis Pressley who is giving us, City Lights Gallery, the opportunity to present his work and important voice to the community. I am humbled and honored. It has been an intention to show his work for a while. Francis and I have known each other for 20+ years. I have witnessed his dedication and drive to make and share his art. He believes in the healing power of the arts. We are blessed that he makes art."
